We are pleased to announce that the animated feature film “Umamusume: Pretty Derby – Beginning of a New Era” will be released in North American theaters on Friday, February 27, 2026, distributed by GAGA Corporation (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President and CEO: Tom (Tatsumi) Yoda, hereinafter referred to as “GAGA”), which is a group company of GENDA Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President and CEO: Nao Kataoka, hereinafter collectively referred to as “GENDA” including its group companies). The film marks the first-ever theatrical adaptation of the “Umamusume: Pretty Derby” multimedia franchise, developed and operated by Cygames, Inc.
The “Umamusume: Pretty Derby” game is a rapidly expanding global property, recently honored with the “Best Mobile Game” award at The Game Awards 2025 – one of the world’s most prestigious gaming events.
Last year, GAGA spearheaded the global rollout of “Ado SPECIAL LIVE 2024 ‘Shinzo’ THE MOVIE,” achieving the largest overseas release for a Japanese artist to date across more than 25 countries. This included a 330-theater release in North America under GAGA’s own distribution. Moving forward, GAGA will operate from its Los Angeles base to aggressively expand its North American distribution business, encompassing anime, live-action Japanese films, and music content. Furthermore, we plan to implement promotional synergies leveraging more than 12,000 mini-locations (mainly a gaming corner with 30 or fewer game machines installed) operated by GENDA across North America.
