SMART EXCHANGE’s foreign currency exchange machines are installed in a wide range of locations, including convenience stores, hotels, shopping centers, and amusement arcades, serving numerous international tourists across Japan. We are committed to actively expanding our network to ensure that essential currency exchange services are readily available for everyone enjoying Japan’s entertainment scene. In order to realize the Aspiration of “More fun for your days,” GENDA will continue to deliver a diverse range of entertainment experiences.

■Changes in SMART EXCANGE after joining GENDA

1. The number of installed machines has increased from 650 to 1,000
AI initiatives led by our BizDev team have improved investment efficiency, resulting in a number of installations that exceeded our initial targets. We have also reduced reliance on individual expertise by automating cash-in-transit (“CIT”) operations and actively promoting personnel exchanges across group companies. These efforts have established a robust operational foundation capable of supporting large-scale expansion. The accelerated rollout of machines at major convenience store chains after joining GENDA has also been a key contributor to the overall growth in installations.
2. Leveraging AX to improve CIT and optimize exchange demand forecasting
CIT operations – including foreign currency collection and JPY replenishment – are critical to SMART EXCHANGE’s business. Historically, determining collection routes and forecasting replenishment amounts relied heavily on the intuition and long-term experience of individual staff members. By digitizing staff expertise and leveraging AI upon joining GENDA, SMART EXCHANGE has enabled the calculation of optimal CIT routes, the optimization of replenishment amounts, and the automated selection of units requiring service. This has resulted in reduced labor costs for CIT operations and more effective control over lost opportunities.
3. Enhancing currency utilization across group companies
We have reduced foreign exchange fees by utilizing USD collected from our machines to fund our group companies’ operations in North America. Additionally, the collected EUR is used to pay for “Kleiner Feigling” liqueur, which is imported by our group company. We will continue to leverage our network as a strategic source of foreign currency to support our ongoing global expansion.
